Our List of Popular Subdomains

When using Custom Landing Pages, one of the initial set up tasks is to select your subdomain. This is the short descriptive word that sits just in front of your main domain name. It is really important to pick good subdomain names for landing pages. Below are some of our top recommendations.

By adding a simple CNAME record, it allows a landing page built using Unbounce or Instapage to look like it appears on your main website.

Here is an example:

Example of Subdomain “team” in front of regular domain

Notice the image above and how “team” is highlighted? This is the subdomain and can easily be set up using your domain register.

You essentially add what is called a ‘CNAME’ record. This tells the domain to allow pages to be shown with this new subdomain.

See below for instructions for your specific domain register and how to set this

Here are some of the more common subdomains to choose from as you set up your landing pages:

List of Subdomains:

  • meet
  • team
  • learn
  • promo
  • store
  • shop
  • engage
  • quote
  • landing
  • services
  • hello
  • try
  • trial
  • demo
  • sales

Important to Note Context- It is import to remember the context in which you will be using your landing page. If your landing page isn’t an e-commerce page, then don’t use ‘store’. Or if the visitors aren’t quite ready to request a quote, then don’t use ‘quote’.

Conversely, if you feel it is important to demonstrate having a helpful team to your clients, then ‘team’ would be a good subdomain selection. Or a software company looking to have visitors download a demo can go with ‘try’, ‘trial’ or ‘demo’.

While there are far too many domain registry companies to list all of them here. These are the most common resources for getting a CNAME record set up with your domain name:

Conclusion

While picking the right subdomain is important, it certainly isn’t as crucial as your main domain however it can help convey the purpose of the landing page and be incorporated as part of your branding.
